Evan's Guitar Concert

Hi there! Nice to see you still coming around! :) It's not that I don't have anything to post, I just had to figure out how to use my new computer with my photos and resize them, etc. I think I've got it figured out, somewhat anyways.... :)

Anywhooo....Mom, Dad, Dorothy, and my cousin Lanae went to Evan's guitar concert one Tuesday. He took Guitar 1 as a class in college and their final exam or something, was this concert.

 His teacher

Here is a video of him and 4 other people playing a song. I think they did a good job!

October Birthdays

We celebrated 3 birthdays in October. Carla turned 15 on the 8th. One more year of people being safe on the roads and sidewalks! ;)

David turned 26 on the 19th. Not sure what we did for that...maybe sent something in the mail, send a text saying Happy Birthday. No pictures of this one. :)

Mom turned 48 on the 30th. Mom and Dad went out to dinner that night, so Carla and I went to the grocery store and bought an ice cream cake and a balloon. We also bought this cute birthday hat for her to wear. :)

We used these leftover pieces of crepe paper from another birthday and taped them to the light over the table.

I found a kid's Happy Birthday song on a cd we have, so we put that on repeat and really loud. When Mom walked in, Carla and I sang along with song. Very loudly and just a little off tune :)

As another little surprise for Mom, I got David on Skype so she/we could talk to him.

He even got to help us sing!

Spirit of America - Boston

This happened a long time ago, but I went up to Boston with 8 other girls in September. We drove up Friday night, stayed in a hotel Friday night, and then walked around Boston on Saturday. Saturday evening we watched the Spirit of America of show.

Here's a couple pictures and videos to show you how awesome it was :)

We got there a little early so we could get good seats.

These two thought it was better to sit up higher. I think we had the better seats!

For those who have never been before, they had 4 people as the "narrators" telling us what the next set was. While they were talking, people in black clothes ran out and moved the stuff around and brought out anything that was needed. Then the people in black either ran back out or squatted down along the side of the arena. The people in the set then came out and played their part.

The bands playing at the beginning

These are all from different sections. Not sure what this one was...

American Civil War

Drill Team - this was definitely my favorite part (as you'll see by the number of videos below - but it's so fun to watch). They were so cool!

Thought the shadow in this picture was neat.

At the end, everyone that was in the show came out in their outfits

Afterwards you could go out in the hallway and talk to/take pictures with the people that were in the show.

Photobombed by soldiers! :)

Can you tell I've never held a gun before but Bec probably has? ;)

We had lots of fun and got home late Saturday night

Houseboat Trip Day 4 & 5

My favorite day of the trip!

We had to have the boat back by 9, so after we brought it back and payed, we headed towards Dexter, NY. We met up with Joanna's parents and she went with them to OH.

We had to be at the white water rafting place for 1:00. Once we got there, they had us all get suited up and ready to roll. They tighten the life vests so much, I seriously couldn't take a deep breath if I wanted to. I ended up unclipping it, because I was starting to panic a little :)

On the bus headed to the river!

Before we got into the river and the boat, the guides had to say the safety spiel. All the talk made me a little nervous since it was my first time. "If you fall out of the boat in a rapid, swim aggressively to the side!" Well, that's a problem cause I can't swim aggressively! ;)

The first rapid in the river, we went through a couple times to practice. And it was really fun! The more we went, the more I enjoyed it.

The guide let us out to swim down the river a little ways. That was really fun cause we didn't really have to swim. The life jackets kept us above the water and the river pushed us through the water! :)

At one point, we had to get out of the boat and walk along the edge because there was a waterfall and the guides said it wasn't safe to go over it. This picture was while the guides were checking it out. Rebecca was standing on the side, holding the boat so we didn't accidentally go over it.

Rebecca had her GoPro so she was able to get a video and the pictures above. If you listen very carefully and turn your volume up, you can hear the guide talking in the background.

It was us and another boat. They had more people than we did, and we did better than them! At one point they ran into the rocks :) I think we impressed our guide because we were a bunch of girls, and most of us hadn't been white water rafting before. He wasn't so sure of what he was getting into with a boat full of girls, but he did just fine!

There was a photographer that went along with us on the road and took these awesome pictures.

If we fell out of the boat, this guy here would've been our friend.

Here we are jumping out of the boat. He told us to strike a pose cause the lady was taking pictures.

Nice pose, Heidi

A picture with our guide once we were back at the building.

When we got back, the place had dinner ready to eat. It was an awesome meal!

Friday night we stayed in a cabin (more like a house) across from the St. Lawrence Seaway in Cape Vincent, NY.

There is a lighthouse about 2 miles from the house, so walked there and found this cool rock archway along the way!

And then Saturday we traveled home! This was definitely one of my favorite trips! We were already planning our trip for next year on the houseboat :)

Houseboat Trip Day 3

Thursday morning we woke up to a nice but a little chilly day. We didn't rush around cause we had no where to be :)

Hanging out on the boat in the morning

Making lunch

Three of the girls went swimming, but three of us stayed out because it was too cold for us :)

Sometime in the afternoon we decided we better pack up and go to a spot that was closer to where we had to bring the boat back. About that time it started raining. So of we went!

It ended up being pretty stormy and the waves were a little rough. Combine that with the rain and it was a little stressful drive (and I wasn't even driving!)

We found a dock that was open so we docked up and went exploring on the island. We came back and were sitting around and realized we kept banging into the rocks in front of us because the water was so rocky. We decided to go see if we could find a little bit more calmer place to spend the night. We eventually found a good spot so we docked up.

The other group prepared supper this night. We had make your pizza's and they cooked them on the grill. They turned out really good!

The cooks

We went exploring on this island too, and it was a lot better than the other one!

I obviously didn't get the memo...
