This Past Weekend

This past weekend I was privileged enough to get to go out to Ohio and see my friend Amber (and her husband too:)! We left early Friday morning (as in I got up at 4:30) and we were on the road about 6:15. I went out with Amber's parents and her sister & brother-in-law.

We got out to OH around 3:30ish and were able to spend the rest of the afternoon and evening at Bryan & Amber's house. Friday night we all played a round of Monopoly and went to bed about 12:40 am on Saturday.

On Saturday after breakfast we brought the decorations to the Fellowship Hall so Bryan's mom & sister could set up for the reception that night. After that, we drove around Amish country for a while and stopped at a couple stores.

The reception was from 5-7 PM and I wore my outfit for the last time! After the reception, we went back to their house and they opened presents.

Sunday was church and in the afternoon my friend from Smithville came to Rittman for the afternoon service so that I could see her at least a little bit. After the afternoon service was over, we changed clothes and hit the road again! I got home 12:30 this morning and went to bed! :)

I shared a room with this furry fellow:
I slept in Cheyenne's room and that is her pet tarantula. Thankfully there was a cover on the cage, so it didn't come visit me during the night :) She also has a crab in another cage on the floor.

Overall a very nice weekend!

An update on the last post:
I don't know if any of you heard/saw it, but the guy on campus was dressed in his Halloween costume. He got charged with breach of peace and had orders to not go back on campus until he talked with some Director of something. Instead of doing that, he went back on campus on Tuesday and got arrested again! Smart fellow! NOT!

Maine - Day 4

Thursday: our last day!

This is the view from the other side of the island looking towards the house. The bridge was not very wide across.

All packed up and ready to go! Snicks didn't seem to mind the ride.

On our way home we stopped at the Marginal Way. There was no dogs allowed on the marginal way so the three girls walked it one way while the three boys walked the dog on the road to the other end. On the way back we switched.

There were a ton of stacked rocks all over the place. Not sure of the meaning....

And then we went home :)

Maine - Day 3

On Wednesday we hung around the house a little and then we went on a hike.

From the top of the tower

Inside the tower. The tower was made of all rocks

Family picture by the tower

Back at the house Mom took some pictures of us kids by the water. This one was the best

Carla kayaking

David, Snickers, me, and Evan in the canoe. It was pretty rocky especially when the dog decided to look out the other side. I had to counteract her wait so I would lean to the opposite she was looking out on

Maine - Day 2

On Tuesday we went to Lost River Gorge and Boulder Caves. It was pretty neat! You walk along the path and descend/climb over 1,000 stairs. Along the way there are different rock caves that you can climb through.

Even Mom went through some!

The Lemon Squeeze. In order to go in, you have to get through the "Squeezer Gauge." Dad made it through the gauge but didn't end up going through the actual hole. I made it through the gauge and the actual hole but it was more than I bargained for. Before the next cave started, there was a place to go out, so that's what I did. I'm not a big fan of crawling on my hands and knees and sometimes scooting through on my stomach through a rock cave! :)

Maine - Day 1

We're back! We actually got back on Thursday evening...I'm just a little behind :)

We went to an island in Maine for a few days as our summer vacation before David leaves for school. The house that we rented was the only house on the island, so we pretty much had it to ourselves. It was pretty sweet!

Looking in from the porch

Carla and our dog

Trying to take pictures of us in the mirror...didn't work so well

The TV room. Can you tell we don't have a tv? ;)

Mine and Carla's room

Mom & Dad's room

The main room

Kitchen

There was two waterfalls, one on each side of the island.

Family picture

Family picture time was interrupted by a flip flop that got dropped into the river. Luckily where it fell wasn't moving that much and Evan was able to go in the river and stand on a rock and retrieve it with a long stick. Carla was a little nervous she wasn't gonna get her flip flop back :)

Back in the house again :) Another view of the main room

The little cove thingy behind the kitchen

To the right

Standing at one end of the island. You can see the house kind of at the center of the picture.

The other waterfall. A little smaller then the other one :)

Kayaking

Canoeing with the dog

The boys crossing the waterfall. I tried but I failed

Right before I went down

Singing Happy Birthday to the tune of America the Beautiful. They didn't really know what they were doing, if you can't tell :)

My birthday cake that I picked out of the freezer section in the grocery store :)

The lighting wasn't that great so we put a lamp on the table :)

That's the end of the first day!
