My Last First Day

Tomorrow is my first day of my last year!! In some ways I just want to start and get it over with but on the other hand I just plain don't want to go to school. I'm sick of all the homework (Mom is too :) and would rather just stay home and goof off go to work.

Oh well, I guess I can't complain considering the fact that I only have school Monday-Wednesdays. So that means this week I only have school tomorrow and next week, since we have Monday off, I only have Tuesday & Wednesday :)

Dried Bananas

We have a slight interruption with the Maine recap. A very exciting interruption! ;)

Last night, for some reason unbeknownst to me, I got the urge to "dry" something. And that lucky something was bananas! Unfortunately we had no bananas in the house so Mom & Dad picked some up on their way home from calling hours.

I sliced the bananas (pretty unevenly) and laid them out on the trays. 

Update: the second time around I used an egg slicer to slice the bananas and it worked amazing! It gives you pretty even slices

Our dehydrator is an older one so there is no temperature setting on it. It just has vents that you can have open all the way or close part way. I closed all the vents partway and left it on all night.

They turned out pretty good and even taste ok! ;) I maybe could've turned it off a little sooner, but now I know for next time!

Maine - Day 2

On Tuesday we went to Lost River Gorge and Boulder Caves. It was pretty neat! You walk along the path and descend/climb over 1,000 stairs. Along the way there are different rock caves that you can climb through.

Even Mom went through some!

The Lemon Squeeze. In order to go in, you have to get through the "Squeezer Gauge." Dad made it through the gauge but didn't end up going through the actual hole. I made it through the gauge and the actual hole but it was more than I bargained for. Before the next cave started, there was a place to go out, so that's what I did. I'm not a big fan of crawling on my hands and knees and sometimes scooting through on my stomach through a rock cave! :)

Maine - Day 1

We're back! We actually got back on Thursday evening...I'm just a little behind :)

We went to an island in Maine for a few days as our summer vacation before David leaves for school. The house that we rented was the only house on the island, so we pretty much had it to ourselves. It was pretty sweet!

Family picture time was interrupted by a flip flop that got dropped into the river. Luckily where it fell wasn't moving that much and Evan was able to go in the river and stand on a rock and retrieve it with a long stick. Carla was a little nervous she wasn't gonna get her flip flop back :)
