Create a favicon

For my web design class, as our last project, we had to create a website for ourselves to showcase all the design work we have done. Below is the design that I ended up going with

We also had to create a logo for ourselves. See mine below:

On the website I added a little bevel & emboss and a drop shadow to it

Now to get to the title of the post, a favicon is "a 16 x 16-pixel icon associated with a particular website, usually displayed before the URL in a web browser" (from dictionary.com)

Example:

So for mine, I just used the logo that I made, made sure it was square and less then 100KB.

Next you go to your blogger dashboard and go to the layout section

Select the edit button in the favicon section and this window will pop up:

All you have to do now is click choose file and browse for your image and then hit save
Now when your blog is open in a tab, that image will show up like I showed in the example. It will also show up next to your blog on someone else's blog list.

Just a fun little tidbit, if you have a blog, to make your blog more personal and more "you".

Cup A Kope

For design class we had to come up with a package design for a coffee company. To start, the teacher gave us the name "Coffee Break." We could pick a different name once we knew who our target audience was. I chose to target those in the age range of 20-50, and I forget what else (I don't have my paper with me). Something to do with people who want to go to Hawaii but don't have the time and money right now. :)

These pictures are from when I put them together. My teacher is a stickler on making sure the quality of the assembling is 100%.

To start, I used a straight edge and x-acto knife to cut the straight edges. Then I glued everything together and used clothes pins to hold it together until the glue dried.

Now comes the hard part...cutting the curved part. I was really nervous because the teacher wanted it to be perfect. I used a scissors and went really slow.

And they turned out better then I thought they would! I was super excited!!! :)

A close up of the logo that I designed for it. The little hut I made in Photoshop.

The sides. The image on the front wraps around to the right side of the package.

The back. We had to include the ingredients, brewing instructions, and a few organic/natural logos.

And the front of all three (from the top)...

Hawaiian Delight

Chocolate Raspberry

Vanilla Macadamia Nut

Surprise Birthday Party

This past Saturday, I had a surprise party for my friend Leah. She turned 15. My cousins help set up.

I had everyone come for 4 PM. My cousin left to go pick Leah up and took the long way to our house to give us extra time. :) I had everyone go downstairs. When Leah and Laura came, I grabbed the rest of the food and headed downstairs.

Coming down the stairs.

We got her! :)

Need a laugh? Read this...

A funny story I got in an email:

A little old lady answered a knock on the door one day, to be confronted by a well-dressed young man carrying A vacuum cleaner. "Good morning," said the young man. "If I could take a couple minutes of your time, I would like to demonstrate the very latest in high-powered vacuum cleaners."

''Go away!'' said the old lady. ''I'm broke and haven't got any money!'' and she proceeded to close the door.

Quick as a flash, the young man wedged his foot in the door and pushed it wide open... ''Don't be too hasty!'' he said. ''Not until you have at least seen my demonstration.'' And with that, he emptied a bucket of horse manure onto her hallway carpet.

"Now if this vacuum cleaner does not remove All traces of this horse manure from your carpet, Madam, I will personally eat the remainder."

The old lady stepped back and said, "Well let me get you a fork, 'cause they cut off my electricity this morning."

HAHAHAHA! That was great!!!
