Race for the Cure

On June 4th, I walked the 4k walk in Hartford for the Race for the Cure.

There was quite a group of us that did it...A. Mare, me, Lydia, Rebekah, Rudy, Susan, Rachel, Rob, Sarah, Seth, Lenny, Deb, Kayla, Ed, Cindy, Brian, Ronnie, Bonnie, Dorothy V., and Brenda Rady.

We walked for Brenda and Bonnie.

This picture was during the walk...there was so many people. I think I heard the lady say that a total of 12,000 people showed up to do either the walk, the race, or a kids race.

The tribute wall

The new police cars that all towns should definitely have :)

After the walk we rode the carousel...A. Mare riding side saddle :)

We got to ride for free because we walked.

Rebekah

Our team had matching t-shirts. I don't have a picture but they said:
Brenda's Bosom Buddies
Walk for the Cure
(you can kind of see them in the picture above)

Our group raised a total of $1750. The walk was a lot of fun!

A few random things...

This past weekend my friend AnnMarie got married to Rob Widmer. I waitressed at the reception. The waitress's gift was a Zion's Harp.

Now moving on to today...
I got this letter in the mail today from Geico.

The first paragraph read:
Remember the story about the girl who snuck into the bears' house and ate all of their porridge, looking for a bowl that was just right? While we don't condone stealing oatmeal from wild animals, we do support shopping around for car insurance until you find your perfect fit, and we're confident that you'll find GEICO is just right.
You probably don't care what I get in the mail, but I thought it was kind of cute :)

One last random thing :)
Here is a picture of my computer desk. Right now it holds hangers, a camera case, a hat I got from work, a printer, photo paper, a tape player, a puzzle, some cds, the newspaper insert my picture was in, my three diplomas from graduation, my cap and golden stole from graduation, my recipe book that is in the making, some tax papers, maybe just a little dust, and who knows what else. The only problem??? it doesn't hold my computer (what it is supposed to hold:)
And my chair has lots of clothes, a beach towel, and a slip.
Anybody else have a place that looks like this??
I'm supposed to have it cleaned by this weekend, since we are having Father's Day at our house. If it ever gets cleaned, maybe I'll post a picture of what it is really supposed to look like :)

In case you are wondering... my computer is sitting on our counter in the kitchen :)

I Graduated!!!

Friday night was my graduation from Asnuntuck Community College. I had to be there at 4:45 and graduation started at 6. So, I stood in the gym for an hour and a quarter. They lined us up by degree then alphabetically, but that was all we did during that time. BORING!!!!!!! :) The person standing behind me in line had been in one of my classes this past semester, so we kind of new each other. One thing that was totally different from high school graduation is that you don't know a lot of the people. Only the people that were in your class do you recognize.

Meanwhile, Mom, Dad, and David were having fun sitting out in the tent, in the most comfortable chairs possible (right Mom?) :) :) Mom snapped this picture of the podium (and no, they didn't get to sit in chairs like those in the picture:):

Walking in:

This next picture is just great, not!! Dad was trying to get my picture when I received my diploma's, but the man walked in front of him right when he took the picture. Soooo, all you can see is the corner of my head/cap and the man's head.

I received three diplomas. One for my Associates, Computer and Information Systems, one for my certificate in Web Design, and the last one for my certificate in Office User Specialist. I also got to wear a golden stole for Phi Theta Kappa and gold cords for honors.

Mom got this picture of one of my teachers. He is quite the character. I had him for three classes during my two years at ACC. He called me Red, short for Red Riding Hood (don't ask me why, I didn't quite understand it myself:) One time during class I asked him if he knew my real name...everything went quiet (Heidi actually spoke!!!:) He did know my name.

This is a picture of myself and Jim Wilkinson.
He was an awesome teacher.

This is a picture of myself and my advisor/teacher (Cheryl Turgeon). I had her for a lot of classes too. She told my parents that she loved their daughter :) She's a very nice lady.
She was an awesome teacher too!!! I'll miss her :(

A. Dawn, David, and U. Doug and A. Jane came.

After, we went to Lulu's for supper. U. Doug tried to get me to wear all my regalia into the restaurant. Sorry U. Doug, but I don't think so!
David took off before we could get a picture :)

This is the rose that A. Jane gave me

FFA Banquet

Last Thursday night, Dad, Mom, David, Evan, & I went to the FFA Banquet at Maneeley's.

Evan and Rebekah Morrill

Rebekah, Evan, and Kaylin Morrill

Since Evan is an officer, he had to give an award to someone that has supported him and all he does with the FFA. He gave the award to Mom & Dad. Mom was not embarrassed at all ;)
Dad, Evan, & Mom walking to the front.

You may need to turn up the volume :)

Then the new officers were put in. This past year Evan was the Parliamentarian (I think it's spelled right :). Next year he is going to be the Treasurer.
Evan being put in as Treasurer.

It was kind of long but it was interesting.
